HOW TO CHOOSE A CRYSTAL

The ancient peoples were closer to nature than we are today and knew instinctively the meaning of sound, colours, fragrances as well as everything that was part of mans environment, so it was perfectly natural for them to be able to find the right plants and minerals which would promote good health and well being.

From very early times humans adorned themselves with precious stones, probably for their beauty as well as for their protective and healing properties. So today when we wish to find a particular crystal it is best to turn to our intuition and remember that, as each one of us is unique, so is each crystal.

CLEANSING YOUR CRYSTALS

After choosing your crystal you must now cleanse it in order to clear it of any other influences it may have acquired. This you can do with water, visualisations, placing in sunlight or moonlight, smudging(passing the crystal through incense smoke). Again allow your intuition to guide you towards which option is best for you.

Some crystals absorb and crumble in water so it is best if unsure to use one of the dryer types of cleansing. All forms of quartz such i.e. ameythst, citrine, smokey quartz and all agates are happy to be rinsed in water, but only use cool, tepid water.

CARING FOR YOUR CRYSTALS

This really means finding a place to keep it where it ‘feels’ happy this is probably not jingling around in your pocket being chipped by your keys and loose change, but maybe in a small purpose-made pouch, on a chain around your neck, or on a special healing,altar type shelf.
